Frequently Asked Questions Regarding Our Biodegradable Pots
How long will these pots last?
Our pots degrade completely in 3 to 6 months after being dropped into a landfill. If used indoors, they will begin to degrade naturally after 3 years. If kept outdoors, they will begin to degrade after 2 years. You do not need to recycle them since they have no chemicals. They provide nutrients to the ground.
What are our pots made from?
Each pot is made primarily of bamboo, but they also have other grass fibers such as rice, wheat and corn components. They are 100% natural, and they have no chemicals or artificial components.
Can these pots be planted into the ground?
Yes, once the planter begins to disintegrate & roots begin to grow through them, you may replant your plant with the pot into the ground. This will prevent trauma to the roots and it will facilitate growth. The properties of the pot will provide nutrients to your plant & nourish the soil.
Can they handle freezing conditions?
Yes, testing has indicated that our biodegradable pots show no signs of damage when they are exposed to freezing conditions, they are suitable for all climates.
Are these pots organic?
Although they are not certified organic, Rosso’s Biodegradable Bamboo pots are made mainly out of natural growing bamboo. They contain non-polluting, earth-friendly ingredients & are ideal for organic growth.
Are these pots dishwasher safe?
Although they can be used in the dishwasher, results show that frequent washing will begin to dull and roughen the product over a period of months.
Can biopots break?
Bamboo is an extremely strong fiber. Pots will not break if you drop them by mistake on the floor. However they can break from extreme impact or extreme force. They are extremely lightweight, but durable.
How do prices compare with regular plastic or fiberglass planters?
Prices are about the same as the average plastic planters in big box stores. They are a lot less expensive than fiberglass & approximately 20-40% lower than any plastic planter found at most garden & small retail stores. With a little bit of education & awareness, the customer will develop a desire to help the environment, ultimately making pots an easy choice. They are affordable & accessible to the average customer. The variety of colors makes them very appealing to the eye.
Who is our customer?
Our pots will appeal to a huge demographic of people with all types of income. Many garden aficionados start a garden by planting seeds in our smaller pots & shortly after transplant them into the ground. Some of them may not want to wait 2-3 years for decomposition, but they can feel good about tossing them, without polluting the ground. Even though plastic pots can be recycled, the melting process in recycling contaminates the air. Others will enjoy their growth until decomposition begins & at that time they will transfer the plant into the ground or a larger planter. The less experienced gardeners will use our pots more as a short term decorative accent.
